September 2025

Dear members,

It was a somewhat quiet August with events to commemorate the end of War II, but there were PAC events with Rep. Taro Kono as well as the latest from Gaza, and a sneak preview of A Pale View of Hills. Your new Board of Directors and Committee chairs are working on an ambitious agenda for the following year, which will be a special one for the Club. Allow me to share some early details.

Masaru Akai's World of Floral Art

For the month of September, the FCCJ welcomes the exhibition of floral artist Masaru Akai and his unique world of flower art and arranging where he masterfully manipulates and talks with flowers. We are confident you will enjoy the original designs and vivid colors from a florist who frequently instructs the wives of ambassadors in Tokyo. Akai's mission is to convey his heart through the medium of flowers, leading him to call his flower arrangement “Soka,” which may be defined as part flower arrangement and part floral design.
